Planers/Jointers

Planers are tools designed to reduce the thickness of a wood board prior to fit. Some planers come with jointers which allow for small cuts along the length of a board to ensure proper installation and fit. When choosing your planer, keep in mind the following points:

• Does the Planer have a Jointer function?
• The width of the planer, which will be the maximum size board it can support
• The blade of the planer, you can get a straight blade, or helical, which uses small inserts in place of a large blade
