Polaris designed the siding to have a three-dimensional look to create a more full look. Polaris’ Ultraside Horizontal Siding comes in two styles: Double 4in. Clapboard and Double 4 1/2in. Dutchlap. Clapboard siding refers to the long, narrow boards or panels that are nailed horizontally across the house. Clapboard also tends to be flat with no shadow line showing, and it is the most common type of vinyl siding. Double 4 1/2in. Dutchlap style siding has a very distinct shadow line that runs along the top edge of each board or panel. The top edge is shaped to create a hand-carved look (of boards that have been beveled on the top half at a 54-degree angle and the lower half hangs at a 90-degree angle). The ArmorCoat system protects the color so that it never needs to be painted or refurbished.
